I recently visited some good friends of mine in Norwich, and
as they know I am a massive foodie they recommend we go to The Waffle House on St
Giles Street for lunch. I can tell you now I was definitely not disappointed!
The restaurant itself is bright and well set out, I found
the staff were very friendly and eager to help. They have a fantastically
diverse if not slightly bizarre menu that is obviously centred around the
humble waffle. A definite plus of this place is they also offer wholemeal and gluten
free options, plus if you don’t fancy a waffle with your savoury option they do
a wild rice and basmati blend.
The savoury section of the menu is particularly varied and has
something for everyone from seared tuna steaks to a rich Lancashire cheese and
mushroom sauce. One of my friends got the hummus, balsamic and olive oil dipped
sesame waffle as a starter, which I did steal some of and I will definitely be purchasing
myself next time I go!
The dessert part of the menu is not as varied as the savoury
but is well balanced and there should be something for everyone. As I am definitely more of a sweet toothed
person I skipped the savoury and opted for the fresh fruit salad waffle. Which was
a plain waffle with vanilla infused Greek yogurt and fresh seasonal fruits. It was
delicious!
I am currently writing this post back in London and I am
heartbroken this charming little restaurant is not within waking distance.
I will leave you a photo of my chosen waffle and a high recommendation
that if you are in Norwich you must visit the Waffle House!
